cottage is ideally situated to enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches of the
Cote Sauvage,
the olde worlde charm and gastronomic delights of La
Rochelle, fresh water activities of the River Boutonne
and explore the old Roman towns of Saintes
and Cognac. Visit the pretty
nearby village of Dampierre,
where you can explore the beautiful old chateau or just sit on the banks
of the Boutonne and watch the fish swim idly by. |

The
original cottage is over 100 years old and recently, two adjoining single
storey barns have been converted to form an extremely attractive gite,
comfortably accommodating up to 6 people. The whole cottage has recently
been completely refurbished and re-carpeted. First
floor:
Large bedroom with open beamed ceiling. En-suite toilet, shower and washbasin.
Sleeps 3 with one double and one single bed. Ground
floor: Large kitchen/dining room with beamed ceiling and
beautiful open fireplace containing woodburner. Small sitting room with
fireplace, beamed ceiling and exposed stonework. Large bedroom with beamed
timber ceiling and French windows opening onto lawn. Sleeps 3 with one
double and one single bed. Bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet.
Outside: Pretty enclosed
south facing garden with lawn, gas bbq., garden furniture. Parking space

ENTERTAINMENT
Water
will feature quite highly on your list of requisites when entertaining
the children - even the 'bigger children'. There is an outdoor heated
pool at Loulay, which is
only one mile away. Quite a number of our guests tend to take a packed
lunch and spend the whole day there. There is also a £3 million
water complex that has recently opened at St.
Jean D'Angely, which is only 20 minutes drive south. This
features 3 pools, water slide, diving boards, sauna, Jacuzzi and solarium.
There are 2 lakes - one at Melle,
which is NE of the cottage, with the other at Matha,
which is about 35 minutes drive toward Cognac. |

The River Boutonne, which is only 10 minutes cycle ride away, the adult
plunge pool and, lest 1 forget, the wonderful beaches from La
Rochelle, south to La Phare
de la Coubre (North East of Royan).
Finally, about 35 minutes drive north west of the cottage, you will find
the Venice Verte - the 'Green Venice'. You can spend an idyllic day here
by hiring your own punt and paddling through a maze of very slow moving
waterways which criss-cross a huge area of beautiful forest. Bonne Vacances!! |
